The 10 Acre Outhouse.
Everyone always inquires about our comfort facilities
Well, there are only minimal facilities out in the NC woods.
No "room" to "rest".
No "room" for a "bath".
No "station" for your "comfort".
No "closet" for the "water".
What we do have kind of appeared out in the woods. First a little contraption that sank forward into the ground at an uncomfortable angle. So we stuffed rocks under the front legs, and then slowly it sank backward into the ground at an uncomfortable angle.
A major rebuild occurred.
We purchased a full size seat from the hardware store (just as though normal house repairs were being done) . Then we built a frame that got the legs away from the sinking action.
Still uncomfortable in the rain though.

Actually, although the above system looks perfectly serviceable to most observers, it was found to still have a few shortcomings. So another major upgrade occurred.

Well, maybe the improvements aren't all that obvious. You still have to check the weather and daylight expectations before use. But the legs were lengthened and beefed up, then actually sunk into the ground for improved stabilization. A nice little cedar shelf was placed across the frame for convenience. And a front panel installed and sealed to the ground. A little ground work provided even more excavation associated with the facility. And finally, a 4 x 8 "modesty panel" was carefully installed on nearby trees.
What more would anyone ask for?
At least, no one can fault the view!
